Auto City Speedway Results 9/20/2025

Well, the 2025 Maximum Destruction nights have come to a close with this past Saturday’s “Witches & Warlocks” Candy-rama autograph night and it was jam-packed with fun for all including a Halloween costume contest.

First off, the Xceptional Heroes of Genesee County were in the crowd tonight and many were dressed in Halloween costumes and were looking forward to enjoying a night of autographs, candy and destruction.

Speaking of the fans, tonight there were folks from California who came to watch Josh Delong race…and also as one of the guest flag persons, a young lady exchange student from Germany was in attendance. We are sure she will have some fun stories to tell about her experience. Plus, there were plenty of birthdays being celebrated as well.

So, as Auto City was decked out in Halloween décor (credit goes to Cathy Pulley) and the fans started filing in, the evening was set. At right about 6:00pm, the fans were let onto the track for the Candy-rama autograph session.

During that time, the 2025 Maximum Destruction specialty awards were handed out. The honors go to the following: Mayhem Master – Cody Lurak / King of Chaos – Josh Delong / Auto City Sportsman – Chris Tobias / Maximum Madman – Anthony Richardson / Diva of Destruction – Catlin Scully / Wrecking Crew – Gerald Persails Jr. & Justin Pepitone.

At 7:00pm, it was time for the invocation and national anthem, once completed it was time for the destruction to begin starting with the twelve lap Chain Gang race.

It was a three-way battle between Josh Delong/Randy Clayton Jr. vs Gerald Persails Jr/Justin Pepitone and Anthony Richardson/Cody Lurak. Once the pulling was done, the win went to the Wrecking Crew of Pepitone and Persails Jr.

Twenty competitors started the twenty lap I-75 race as it was next.

Jesse Backus (#507) jumped to an early lead, but once the field got sorted out with the buses ‘slowing and going’, it was the likes of Josh Delong (#067), Anthony Richardson (#422), Cody Lurak (#10), Justin Pepitone (#948) and Gerald Persails Jr. (#80) all vying for the top spot. The momentum did snooker two drivers as getting caught driving past one of the buses while its emergency lights were on getting them sent to the pits. It was Josh Delong and Doug Hennessey (#69).

Richardson did take the lead for a bit with Pepitone in pursuit. When the checkered flew, it was Pepitone, Persails Jr., Richardson, Luark and Tyler Myers (#21) as the finishing order.

The twelve lap Push Race was now up and it was again that ‘three team’ battle with Delong/Clayton Jr, Pepitone/ Persails Jr., and Richardson/Lurak all battling and even side by side at times. When it was said and done, the win went to Delong/Clayton Jr. with the others finishing respectfully as stated.

The Kiddy Stock race was next, and a young lady took the win as she was being challenged by a young man who almost got by her on the last turn.

The unique eight lap Reverse Race was set…yes, drivers driving backwards in reverse. It was Pepitone getting his rear bumper across the finish line first followed by Richardson and Ryan Cudd (#11).

Next up was the fifteen lap Flagpole Race and Cody Lurak took the early lead with Persails Jr. and Pepitone following. By lap four, Delong and Richardson made their presence known. Lurak did get the black flag and retired to the pits leaving Delong now in the lead. When the checkered flew, it was Delong, Richardson and Persails Jr.

The fifty lap Enduro was now set. And again, it was the likes of Pepitone, Persails Jr., Richardson, Delong all battling, but Richardson did have a break away in his red & white #422 truck and started leaving the others in the distance. Richardson did get the victory by a half a lap over Delong and Pepitone.

There was something new tonight for the fans, a FREESTYLE Burnout Contest. After all the challengers were done showing their best, it was Haven Hall getting the fans approval as best freestyle burnout.

Now it was time for the fifteen lap Shark Race…where two ‘sharks’ try to tag the racing competitors and if they succeed, the competitor has to pull off the track. As the field got ‘eaten up’, it was Cody Lurak with some very evasive moves to not get bit and took the win. Also surviving was William Grubbs Jr. (#96) …all others were tagged/eaten.

Now it was time to hit the figure 8 track for the last time in 2025 with the ten lap School Bus Figure 8. There were seven buses battling and many close calls, but when the ten laps were up, it was a hard charging Josh Delong getting the win over Randy Clayton Jr. as Delong was even driving on the infield grass at times to work his way by Clayton Jr. was led most of the race.

The final race of the 2025 season was the ten lap Trailer Figure 8 Race and as wild as it was, it was Delong again, getting the win and doing an impressive burnout to put an exclamation point on the season.

That does conclude the race season for Auto City Speedway, but note, we already have our Maximum Destruction dates public.
