Auto City Speedway

June 12th 2010

{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}Autograph Night is always fun for fans and drivers alike and Saturday, June 12th was no exception as the weather cooperated and there was exciting racing in all 5 divisions at Auto City Speedway sponsored by Rislone and Bar's Leaks{nl}     Veteran driver and engine builder Tony Brabbs, the newest member of the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame, celebrated by setting fast time for the Dart Machinery Modifieds with a 16.33 on the 1/2 mile.  Heat races went Greg Fullerton and Joe Morrisette.  Seventeen cars started the 40-lap feature with rookie Kyle Feeney jumping out in front.  On a restart one lap later Don Gilbert took over and pulled away to a huge lead.  The race remained caution-free until the very end when Morristte brought out a yellow flag with just 3 laps left.  Dave Christensen got by and Gilbert got into Chris Stearns, sending Gilbert to the rear.  Christensen stayed ahead to take the victory, finishing in front of Stearns, Bobby Heyink, Travis Eddy and Brabbs.{nl}     Julian Fluty paced qualifying for the Modern Concrete Street Stocks with a 15.39.  Defending track champ Adam Rowe won the dash while heat race winners were Jeremy Spencer and jay Woolworth.  It was a wild 30-lap feature as Jim Severn took the early lead.  Two laps later Jim Miller, Jr. took over on a restart and stayed in front until a flat tire put him out on lap 18.  Severn regained the top spot but Fluty ran him down on the outside and picked up a long-awaited feature victory.  Severn held on for second followed by Rowe, Rob Sullivan and Jason Schlaud.{nl}     Jordan Lechota has won the last three features in the Mt. Morris-Clio Pure Stocks and he continued his success, setting fast time with a 15.56.  Duane Damon won the dash while Gerald Persails, Jr. and Chad Lamson took heat race honors.  The 25-lap feature was the best race of the night as Tony Williams took the early lead but spun out in the middle of traffic on lap 2.  Scott Beach took the advantage until lap 6 when Lamson grab the lead.  Lonnie Saumier, Jr. and Lechota chased him down and the three drivers put on a whale of a show running side-by-side and bumper-to-bumper the rest of the way.  But Lamson is the defending track champ, and he kept his Cadillac in front for his first feature win of the year.  Lechota stayed ahead of Saumier for second while Beach and Nick Johnston rounded out the top 5.{nl}   {nl}
