Auto City Speedway Results 5/18/19
Finally a Saturday night that Mother Nature let Auto City Speedway go on with the racing events. It was a full night of racing under the full moon with warm temperatures and just a bit of overcast.
The All American Truck series qualifying started the night out and it was Josh Delong in his #067 truck taking the top spot with a 17.65.
In the Herald Pure Stock division, it was track record holder Jim Miller Jr. #9 getting the fast time with a 16.11.
The events started with the Herald Pure Stock heats. After the eight laps, it was Amanda Clayton’s #53 getting the win, followed by John DoorenBos #29 and Jeff West #3W.
The second heat went to the #97 of Tony Williams, followed by J.T. James Clayton #54 and the returning #36 of Big “D” Dave Marsh.
In the All American Truck Series heat races, it was Danny Smith in his #06 taking the win, then Brad Reseigh #7 and the #224 of Jason Grissom.
The second heat for the AAT was captured by Josh Delong #067, with Jimmy Bass #116 and #74 of Nick DeBoer following respectfully.
The thirty lap Herald Pure Stock race was next and with a field of seventeen cars, you knew it was going to be some good racing. As the green dropped, the battle ensued to get up to the front. The #54 of James Clayton had the early lead with challengers Tony Williams #97, Chad Lamson #888, Bruce Dutton Jr. #19 and Dave Marsh #36 all vying for position. On lap eleven, the #888 of Lamson developed a transmission issue which had him retire to the pits. As Williams and Clayton raced side by side, lap after lap for the lead, it was finally Tony getting the lead away from James. When the checkered flag flew, it was Williams getting the win followed by Clayton, Marsh, Dutton and the #29 of John DoorenBos.
The Lipstick Ladies ten lap winner was again, defending champion, Amanda Clayton continuing her rein in that series.
The thirty lap All American Truck feature was next and the early leader was the #74 of Nick DeBoer, with challenges from #03 Jacob Zervan, Jimmy Bass #116, and Josh Delong #067. At the end of the thirty laps, it was Delong getting the win over Bass, Zervan and DeBoer.
The Spector Drags win went to Mike Wright in his red Camaro.
The Auto City Figure 8 series was next and being that the point leader Chad Lamson’s #888 was on the trailer, competitor Adam Rhodes loaned his #20 machine to Chad for this race. Once the green was dropped, the race became a bit wild n wooly, to say the least (probably due to the full moon), Chad and Tony Williams battled fiercely back and forth. After the fifteen laps were completed, it was Chad Lamson getting the win.
To end the night, there was a sixty lap Enduro race. With twenty five competitors hoping to get the win, it came down to the Crown Vic #948 of Justin Pepitone and the Crown Vic of Josh Delong #067 battling it out through traffic. When the race was completed, it was Josh Delong getting yet another win for the night & the bounty!
