Great racing on May 1st!!

What started out as a rainy, cloudy day turned into a beautiful night of racing as Auto City Speedway welcomed the Clio AYSO & the Michigan Legend Series for their first event of the season.  Four other divisions were also in action along with the first “Kiddy Stocks” sponsored by Precision Tax Service  and the Legend Series for youngsters from 4-9 years old.{nl}     Matt Todd, Tyler Rycenga and Brandon Mahoney won heat races for the Legends cars.  Tony Monge started up front in the 35 lap feature and held the top spot until lap 8.  Then it was Mahoney’s turn to pace the field with Todd hot on his tail.  On lap 21 Todd got past on turn 2, but Mahoney kept hounding until lap 25, when his rear gave out.  Todd held on to take the win.  Former Auto City Hornets champ Loren Short, running his first ever Legends race, came from 13th starting spot to finish second.  Rounding out the top 5 were Monge, Rycenga and Cody Mahoney.{nl}
